Perimenopausal symptoms and what you can do...

If your answer is YES ✋, then welcome to Perimenopause!

Perimenopause typically begins from your late 30's to early 40's and is where your hormones, particularly estrogen and progesterone begin to go on a roller coaster ride. The fluctuation of these hormones can cause these annoying and life altering symptoms.

The reason you feel crappy and not yourself is because of the hormone imbalances. The symptoms are a result of what is going on in your body. Your body is sending out warning signals saying it needs support and symptoms described are the warning lights.

The symptoms you are experiencing from these hormone imbalances may mean you need adrenal, liver, thyroid, and/or other support in the body because they all work together as a unit. The good news is, you can support what is going on by the correct lifestyle changes (food and movement, hydration, stress, sleep etc..) that will move your hormones back where they need to be, and you will feel way better.

Some ways to pivot your nutrition to help alleviate your symptoms to slowly eliminate inflammatory foods such as processed dairy, gluten, refined sugar, alcohol, fast food, and seed oils.

Ways to incorporate movement to help with perimenopausal symptoms is to add in strength training with either your body weight, dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells or cables and machines 3-4 times weekly.

Incorporating one or two of this lifestyle modifications will help turn around those hormones imbalances and you will soon feel like yourself again. Key recommendation is to be PATIENT with yourself. Balancing hormones takes time for your body to adjust to the positive lifestyle changes which usually takes about 3 months +/- time.

Taking supplements are another great option to help support your hormones. However, it best to test and not guess.
