Resistance Band Myths and Facts

Have you ever thought…it’s too cold or the weather is bad that you can’t/don’t want to go to the gym to work out? How about, I’m traveling for work/vacation and won’t have time to work out?

I got the perfect solution!! Resistance Band Training (RBT)!! Resistance bands are the most underutilized pieces of fitness equipment that many disregard as a real workout.

Here’s are some myths.

Myth #1:

In order to get a good workout, I only can use dumbbells or machines.

Fact:

The same amount of muscle fibers and force are activated as if you were to use free weights or machines.

Myth #2: Resistance Bands do not improve strength.

Fact: Bands do increase muscle strength and size similar to free weights and machines.

Myth #3: Resistance Bands are low cost, so must not be as effective or strong as free weights and gym machines.

Fact: 95% NFL & 80% NBA athletes use them for their own workout, If these 300+lb. tough guys can use them in their workout, then they are super durable for any "body."

More Facts:

Resistance bands provide more functional strength and offer better injury prevention than other forms of exercise. According to ACE, functional strength is the improvements in strength that directly enhance the performance of movements, so that an individual's activities of daily living are easier to perform.

Resistance Bands are not expensive and easily portable, so you can take them wherever you go...ex.- suitcase, bag.

There you have it. Resistance bands are a great way to get great workout utilizing all major muscle groups and can be done anywhere.

Am I saying that resistance bands are the only thing you need to use for all your workouts? No, of course not. However, it is a good way to mix up your strength training and stimulate your muscles in a different way.
